Core workflow: Enable advanced item descriptions (Alt) → see roll ranges → search trade site → adjust for rolls, corruptions, bases, and item level.
Uniques: Max roll ranges dramatically increase value (1 exalt → 40+ divines). Rares: Value depends on slot — body armors want defenses + resists, gloves want damage + crit, boots need 35% MS, amulets want spirit + levels. Normals: Orb of Chance bases (Heavy Belt → Headhunter) and exceptional bases (item level 82 white items, 20–35 divines+).
Key tools: Exil Search 2, poe2db.tw, official trade site · Use tilde (~) for fuzzy mod search.
Options → Input → Show Advanced Item Descriptions → assign a hotkey.
Holding Alt while hovering an item shows the roll ranges of every modifier. This is essential for price-checking every item type in the game.
Typing ~ before a search term on the trade site matches any modifier containing that text.
Example: ~cold pulls up cold damage, cold penetration, cold resistance — everything with "cold" in the name. This works for any mod text.
Every unique item has ranges its modifiers can roll. Example — a pair of gloves with "gain 5–10 fire damage":
| Roll | Value |
|---|---|
| Minimum (5) | ~1 exalt |
| Maximum (10) | 40+ divines |
Always check roll ranges. Max-rolled uniques sell for 40x+ the minimum-roll price in some cases.
These rings have extreme roll ranges:
| Stat | Min | Max |
|---|---|---|
| Life | 0 | 80 |
| Spirit | 0 | 20 |
| Rarity | -25 | 25 |
| Fire/Cold/Lightning | -40 | +40 |
A perfect-rolled ring is a statistical anomaly worth 99+ divines. Even near-perfect rolls are expensive, but check listing duration — if it's been up 2+ days, reduce price 10–20 divines.
Negative rarity variants are also valuable for exceptional base farming. Lower implicit = better for negative rarity rings. Search via -25 -25 to lock the roll range.
Corrupted uniques are typically half the price of non-corrupted versions. Same stats, same functionality — you just can't re-corrupt them.
If you can't afford the non-corrupted version, search for corrupted and save a lot of money. This applies to nearly all uniques.
| Priority | Stat | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | High defenses (evasion/ES/armor) | Depends on meta, base type |
| 2 | High elemental resistances | Pseudo-total fire+cold+lightning |
| 3 | Rarity suffix | Premium stat |
| 4 | Socket count | Exceptional bases have 3 base; corrupt for 4 |
Pricing tiers for evasion body armors:
| Evasion | Ele Res Total | Est. Price |
|---|---|---|
| ~2700 | 67 | ~5 divines |
| 2775 | 107 | ~5 divines (example) |
| 3500 | 100+ | 100+ divines |
Max quality on items: 30%. Exceptional bases have an extra rune socket by default.
Same logic as body armors: high defense + high resistances. Premium stats that dramatically increase value:
A 525 ES helmet with crit chance + rarity can be 100+ divines. Same helmet without those stats might be ~50 divines.
Early league: high defenses + resistances.
Mid/late league: high attack damage prefixes + crit suffixes.
A well-rolled pair with T1/T2 flat damage + crit suffixes sells for 15–30 divines.
Reference: poe2db.tw → Modifiers → select base type to see all possible rolls.
Gold base adds significant value — rarity is a premium stat. A double-rarity gold ring with good resistances and flat damage is "what every build wants."
The two most valuable stats:
| Stat | Why |
|---|---|
| T1 Spirit | Fits more auras |
| +Level of all skills | Projectile/melee/minion = damage |
Together on a gold amulet = minimum 20 divines.
Fractured bases are next-level — a fractured +3 projectile skills base alone is ~78 divines before any other mods.
Best bases: Gold (rarity implicit, up to 20%) and Solar (spirit implicit, up to 15%).
A top-tier bow (high flat + crit + exceptional base + 3 sockets) can be 200+ divines.
Crafting tip: Use essences (e.g., Essence of Sorcery) to replace a dead suffix. Cost: ~1 exalt → sell for ~9 divines if you hit +3 spell skills.
Non-negotiable: 35% increased movement speed. Good boots = 35% MS + high resistances + good defense base.
If you see 35% MS (or even 30%), always price check.
| High Value | Other Good |
|---|---|
| Critical hit chance | Increased max ES |
| Critical damage bonus | Spell damage |
| Build-specific damage bonus |
Crit chance + crit damage alone = minimum 3 divines.
Certain normal items can be turned into chase uniques using an Orb of Chance:
| Base | Can Become | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Heavy Belt | Headhunter | Iconic belt |
| Utility Belt | Mageblood | New in PoE2, very rare |
A normal utility belt sells for ~13 exalts (or more if patient). The base has inherent value because of the gamble potential — even though the chance of success is low.
Item level 82 is the breakpoint for tier 1 modifiers — max mana, tier 1 resistances, etc.
An item level 82 Solar amulet with max spirit implicit: ~120 exalts vs ~6 exalts for item level 80.
Check poe2db.tw → look at the "Item Level" column for any mod to see when it becomes available.
These are white items that are extremely valuable because of their base type:
| Base | Est. Value (item level 82+) |
|---|---|
| Obliterator Bow | ~19 divines |
| Slip Strike Vest (evasion) | ~35 divines |
How to farm: Get your character's rarity to negative — you find fewer rares and more normal items, increasing exceptional base drops.
