PoE2 Endgame Atlas Progression — Complete Guide

by Athmore · Atlas completion blueprint

Core Principle: Rush to boss nodes during progression → get waystone sustain first → farm league mechanics in T11s (ilevel 75 is enough for great gear) → only push T15s when your character is ready.

Three phases: Precursor FortressLeague MechanicsMaster Missions

Golden rule: Do not run quest-relevant tablets while progressing. Progress first, juice later.

Mechanic League Passive Boss Strategy Master

First Steps After Campaign

What to do the moment you finish campaign
1.Open the waygate in Ziggurat
2.Complete first map → rush boss
3.Talk to Lyani + Pharaoh → start quests
4.Unlock map device in personal hideout
5.Go to Hilda's camp → first beast contract
The Boss Rush Rule

Unless you're farming a specific mechanic with a clear goal: always rush straight to the boss.

Farming league mechanics and rare monsters is less rewarding without Atlas passives. Spend time juicing content after the tree is allocated.

Waystone Vendor Trick

Doriani sells waystones one tier below your highest completed tier.

CompleteBuyWhy
Tier 7Tier 6Safety net if sustain is unlucky
Tier 12Tier 11Stay in the comfortable T11 farming zone

Atlas Passive Tree — Priority Path

Phase 1: Waystone Sustain (Before Burning Monolith)

1.Essence nodes path through
2.Path Keeper waystone drop chance
3.Eons of DominationOverseer tablets
4.Valuable Paths more waystone %
5.Monster Effectiveness quantity on all drops
6.Archaeological Interest
7.Expanding HordesAtop the World precursor tablets
Monster Effectiveness: Always take it unless your character is very weak. It increases item quantity for all non-deterministic drops — currency, items, and waystones.

Precursor Fortress Progression

Start → Ancient Gateway
Burning Monolith grab trial key nodes left/right
East Gateway kill Precursor Refiner
West Gateway kill Precursor Separator
Enigma Chambers require T10
Arbiter of Ash first pinnacle boss

Don't Run Dead Maps

Only path to quest objectives. After killing the final boss, you auto-complete ~40 maps per cardinal device use. Every map you run manually during progression is one you didn't need to.

3rd Ascendancy

Grab a guaranteed trial key node near Burning Monolith at ~level 70. Buy relics until you have 75% honor resistance. Overlevel the trials slightly for easy runs.

Enigma Chambers → Arbiter of Ash

Require Tier 10 waystones. Kill both Enigma Chambers → fight Arbiter of Ash (one crisis fragment is pre-placed). Learn the fight — it's doable even with a weak character if you dodge mechanics. If you feel too weak, pivot to league mechanics.

Tier 11 — The Comfort Zone

TL;DR: Dying in T15s? Drop to T11s. You lose almost nothing in gear quality.
Whatilvl 75 (T11) Grants
Flat damage on rings/glovesT1
Life rollsT1–T2
All resistancesT2
Defense rollsT2
Amulet rollsUp to 3
Physical damage on weaponsT2
Gem levelsLevel 18

To get better rolls, you need ilvl 82 — most T15 items won't even reach that, and higher-tier rolls have lower weight anyway.

Strategy: Stay in T11s until your character can handle T15s comfortably. Farm Abyss + Breach for gear and currency.

League Mechanics Overview

MechanicBest ForStart
Abyss Raw currency, desecrated bones, omens Well of Souls
Expedition Basic currency, divines, skill gems, waystones King's March
Breach Belts, amulets, rings, catalysts Monastery of the Keepers
Ritual Unique items, crafting omens Kirac's
Delirium Amulet anoints, jewel crafting, liquid emotions Withered Willow
Vaal Temple Vaal currency, corrupting items Vaal City

League Progression Order

Step 1: Expedition (Quick Detour) — Hilda's Passive

Just the first beast contract. Unlocks the passive giving 25% chance to upgrade normal bosses → powerful bosses (drop waystones +1 tier).

Step 2: Delirium (Quick Detour) — Amulet Anoints
1.Path to Withered Willow
2.Kill 5 bosses with Delirium fog unlocks anointing
3.Allocate I Know Your Childhood Fears
Step 3: Abyss (Priority #1)

Best early mechanic. Raw currency + desecrated bones + omens.

Path: Well of Souls → top/bottom/right corners → Kurgal

Tree: Balance of Power → Ulaman (currency chests). Avoid "From Below" and "Sprawling Rupture" — they slow you down.

Key rule: Do NOT run Abyss tablets while questing. More abyss = more time per map.
Step 4: Breach (Priority #2)

Best source for belts — likely your weakest slot.

Path: Monastery of the Keepers → Hives → Colony → Xesht

Tree: Breeding Program → Banded Fruit (belts) → Diverse Control → Soul Purpose → Destruction.

Step 5: Expedition (Fallback)

If you need more currency, XP, or gems after Abyss + Breach.

Step 6: 4th Ascendancy

At level 85+, do the last Trial of Sirus. Farming T11s guarantees the easiest (level 75) 4-trial key.

Step 7: Finish the Fortress
Matriarch Hall → Origin's Cradle
+Patriarch Hall → Origin Spark
Origin Tower engine room → Origin Core
Arbiter of Divinity × 5 kills

Each kill → use cardinal device → auto-complete ~40 maps in a region.

Start with bottom left — reveals a tower that speeds path to Ritual area.

Finding halls: Look for smooth orange beams near each other. Combine with Doriani quest exploration.

The Tablet Rule

Never run quest-relevant tablets while progressing. Tablets add more content = more time per map. Progress first, juice later.

When to Pivot

Dying in maps? Drop to T11. The reward difference between T11 and T15 is minimal, but the difficulty spike is massive. Farm Abyss + Breach until you're strong enough.
